Earlier this month, I had a wonderful opportunity to visit Yosemite National Park, and while it was not my first visit to the national park, it was my first time visiting solo. Embarking on a solo journey to Yosemite National Park is a journey you will never forget. From camp reservations to hiking trails, in this guide, we’ll dive into everything that you need to successfully plan and execute an ultimate solo trip to Yosemite.

Planning and Preparation

Before heading to Yosemite, thorough planning and preparation is key to ensuring a safe and fulfilling journey. Here are a few essential tips to consider when planning your next trip as a solo female traveler.

  1. Research Yosemite National Park: Visit the national park website for up-to-date news, current weather conditions, and trail closures, and get a feel for the park during the season you want to visit. Double-check for park reservations, and area closures, and understanding the park’s geography, climate, and regulations is crucial.
  2. Check the weather: When are you planning to visit? Will you need snow chains for your vehicle, or extra sunscreen and bug spray? Getting a feel for the current conditions will determine travel time, what gear, and apparel to pack.
  3. Make a list, check it twice: Once you get a better understanding of the weather, you’ll want to create a checklist for your gear, and any extra clothes you may want to pack.
  4. Safety Precautions: While Yosemite is a breathtaking destination, it also presents potential risks. Learn about wildlife encounters, hiking safety, and emergency procedures to stay safe during your solo adventure.

Accommodations for the Solo Female Traveler

As much as I LOVE to camp, I enjoyed my time at Camp Curry. Curry Village serves as an ideal base camp for solo female travelers, offering a range of accommodations and amenities. The single double bed heated tent was absolutely perfect for my late winter adventure. Here are a few reasons why I would book this trip again!

  2. Dining and supplies: From adventure and camping gear to grocery items and pizza, the village has everything you need to fuel your adventure.
  3. Adventure and Recreation: There are a few hiking trails just outside of Curry Village making it easy to explore the park at your convenience. There are also valley buses that you can take for FREE. Bus stops are conveniently located throughout the village. During peak season, you can even rent bikes in the village!
