Road trip, anyone? Whether you’re planning a month long road trip or a weekend-long getaway, I’ve gathered 12 FREE of my favorite apps to download before you hit the road!

Planning and Inspiration Apps 🔎

Roadtrippers: The #1 app for road trip planning and navagation, the Roadtrippers app has the ability to plan your route, locations for Points of Interest, pre-made trip guides, turn-by-turn navagation, offline maps, social sharing, and even has a feature to locate gas stations on your route.

Google Travel: Google Travel primarily focuses on booking flights, hotels, and vacation rentals within the United States. Trip planning, booking, and trip management are just a few of the main features of Google Travel.

Waze: Waze’s main strength is its real-time traffic information, crowdsourced from other Waze users. This means you get alerts about accidents, jams, speed traps, and other hazards even before they show up on traditional navigation apps.

GasBuddy: The #1 app for finding the cheapest gas stations anywhere in the US and Canada. Save up to 5x more on gas purchases just by using the app!

TripIt: a highly-rated travel organizer app that helps you manage all your travel plans in one place. Features include: automatic itinerary creation, multi-platform access, real-time updates, offline access, sharing and collaboration.

Navagation and Safety Apps ↗️

iOverlander: is a fantastic resource for overlanders and adventurous travelers exploring off-the-beaten-path destinations globally. Find your next destination, share your adventures, and connect with other overlander travelers.

USA Rest Stops: Easily find all rest stops through the entire United States on your iOS or Android device.

Google Maps: My personal favorite. Used for navagation with turn-by-turn notifications, real-time traffic updates, offline maps, street view, points of interest, satelittle view, and other features like My Timeline, saved places and indoor maps- to name a few.

Accommodation Apps🏨

HipCamp: a platform connecting unique outdoor lodging with nature-loving travelers. Discover some of the most unique accommodations and camping options out there. Unique stays. Diverse locations. Responsible travel. Reservations are required.

FreeCampsites.net: finding free campsites near you! Locations are shared by other campers providing camp coordinates, images, and general ratings per location.

Priceline: On Priceline you can search for the cheapest flights, rentals, and accomodations. A great option for budget-travelers looking for the best prices.

AirBnB: Make reservations for vacation rentals, cabins, unique stays and more! Airbnb offers a diversity of experiences, global reach, flexible options, secure bookings, and guest reviews!

Planning a road trip can be fun with the right tools. Offline maps are very helpful when you are exploring an area with little to no service.
