I tackled this hike a little after my Colorado Trail thru hike in late September. The weather was beautiful the fall colors were peaking, and some of my favorite views of Twin Lakes could be seen within the first couple of miles.

The Trail

The South Elbert Trail is the most popular route to the summit. The trailhead is easily accessible, and the path offers stunning views throughout the hike. It’s a challenging trek, but the sense of accomplishment at the summit is unmatched.
