This place is magical, I’m telling ya. Getting to MTR was awesome. My resupply was everything I needed it to be.
John Muir Trail Day 13: Mile 100 and a Beautiful Sunset at Marie Lakes
This would be mile 1.11. Trying to slow down a bit, so I decided to stop at the creek. Low enough where I can walk across the creek with water to my ankles.
John Muir Trail Day 12: VVR to Bear Ridge Trail
Breakfast @ VVR was nice. Not amazing, but nice to have a warm coked meal that doesn’t include boiling water. Needed ketchup for my potatoes though.
John Muir Trail Day 11: VVR + Shower Beer
Early morning journaling today. Tried to sleep in, but my body is restless. Feet are tired, not sure, body’s a little sore, but honestly no real complaints.
JMT Day 10: Silver Pass Was Nice, Until it Wasn’t…
I’m not even sure how I did 11.47 miles today, but you know what- it sure in hell feels like it. Started the day late, at 10 AM.
JMT Day 9: Sunset at Lake Virginia
Just finished cooking dinner: garlic creamy shells w/broccoli. I know, I was supposed to have burritos tonight, but I think I’ll make it to VVR tomorrow.
JMT Day 8: The Start of my Solo SOBO JMT Journey
Back on the JMT. Solo this time and I’m not sure how I feel about it so far. Loving my new 1P tent. Ice cream + beer at Reds before hitting the trail at 3 PM.
JMT Day 7: Reds Meadow + Trail Exit
Journaling from my bed tonight. I’m home for the next 2 days for Uncle Fred’s funeral. We made it to Reds Meadow today and the hike was pretty much downhill into Mammoth.
JMT Day 6: Hit 50 Miles & Sisters’ Last Day
Finally, an afternoon to just chill! This morning was nice. After last night near encounter with a bear, I think we were both just ready to ditch that spot.
JMT Day 5: Connecting The Dots…
Today, I’m most tired. Not many miles but started the day late. It was nice though; we camped near Rush Creek and had the place to ourselves.
JMT Day 4: Farewell Yosemite!
Camping way off trail today, just the way I like it. Woke up early, got on trail 8 AM! Donohue Pass. Ran into Canada “Commando” from Tuolumne Meadows.
JMT Day 3: Our First Resupply & Camp Burritos!
Later start, but got in the lake. Missed sunrise. 5.5 miles to Tuolumne Meadows, our first resupply. Brittany is getting bruises on her shoulders.
JMT Day 2: First Full Moon
We woke up pretty early, and got on trail by 9 AM, and already by 10 AM we were probably less than a mile away and already wanting to change out of our layers.
She Washed Her Spirit Clean, Farewell 32.
We’ve been on trail for the past two days. I really love it out here. The Sequoias are such a hidden gem. Today is the 4th of July, which means tomorrow is my birthday and today is the last day of being 32.
Not This Time Mount Whitney…Not This Time
Not only is my pack 29.5 lbs, and not only are we and planning to hike the tallest mountain in America, and not only are we planning to be on trail for the next 5-days, while attempting to hike two 14ers, when I haven’t even hiked my first one, but of course, this morning– I started my period.
