Whether you’re planning a month long road trip or a weekend-long getaway, I’ve gathered 12 FREE of my favorite apps to download before you hit the road!
Exploring Colorado National Parks: The Great Sand Dunes
After completing the Colorado Trail, I explored the Great Sand Dunes, home to North America’s tallest sand dune at 750 feet. Despite a short visit, I plan to return for sunrise. Nearby Zapata Falls Campground offers convenient camping. The park offers activities like sandboarding, hiking, and stargazing, best enjoyed in spring or fall. Remember water, sunscreen, and proper attire.
A Quick (yet Epic) Day: Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park
To be completely honest, this national park was not on my radar as I made my way to Colorado to thru hike the CT this summer, but when I drove by a sign for Black Canyon of the Gunnison I knew I had to make a quick stop- just to check it out!

Visiting the Saguaros in a Cabana Van
As silly as it may sound, I did in fact drive over 500 miles to see the Saguaros in Tucson, Arizona. Springtime in the desert is the best time to explore, and even though temperatures stayed just below 100°, this Cali girl remains grateful for all of the amenities that come with the Cabana Van.
Wandervan Winter Roadie: Hot Springs
It’s been a dream of mine to explore Idaho. I met up with a friend and after picking up our home on wheels at Wandervans, our hot spring journey began.
Early Spring Soak: Arizona Hot Springs
When there’s too much snow in our local mountains, you’ll most likely catch me warming up somewhere in the desert. The month is February and this was my first backpacking trip of the year.

1,543 miles spending 4 days and 4 nights wandering 2 states, exploring 3 state parks, 1 national park and a quick overnighter in Grand Staircase-Escalante.
Backpacking in the San Juan Mountains
Over Labor Day weekend, three friends and I took a road trip to Colorado for an extended weekend of backpacking to some of the most amazing alpine lakes in the San Juan mountains!
Wander Washington: 10-Day Road Trip
Summertime in the mountains mean longer days, alpine lakes, mosquitoes bites and no road trip is complete without a little misadventure.
Late Fall Southwest Desert Roadie
When a friend asks you to go explore some of America’s Southwest deserts you don’t question the reasons as to why you simply join in on the excitement and make it happen.
